Colorado Rockies are heading to the World Series of Baseball 2007

DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies are roaring into the World Series like no team before them.

More momentum. More rest, too.

With their 21st win in 22 games, the relentless Rockies beat the rattled Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4 in Game 4 Monday night to sweep the NL championship series at chilly Coors Field.

Series MVP Matt Holliday hit a three-run homer into the pine-filled rock pile in center field that capped a six-run outburst in the fourth inning, and Colorado was on its way.

Eric Byrnes Comments against the Colorado Rockies

"I'm sure you guys are all probably writing us off," Byrnes said. "I don't blame you. We haven't done a whole lot to make you guys think we're going to win this series. I think we're a good team. I also don't think the Rockies have outplayed us because they haven't.

"They've had a little luck go their way. Definitely the ball has bounced in their direction. They've been the beneficiary of some calls. So when we look at that as a group, we look back on those first two games, we haven't been outplayed. If anything, it's the other way around. ... We're not really fazed by what's going on right now."

Rockies lost the World Series but still the second best team

Congratulations Boston Red Sox. Red Sox had a great team I am not going to deny that. But you can't take away the Colorado Rockies going to the World Series in 2007 or being the 2nd best team! Congrats to the Rockies for such a great year, you didn't let down your fans, we enjoyed every game whether you won or lost. I'm sure a lot of people will knock Colorado for making it to the World Series, but Red Sox were a better team with a BIGGER salary cap than us. The Rockies battled their own and did a fantastic job. Hope to see the same players back next year so we can do it again.

Tickets back on sale Tuesday October 23rd

DENVER – The Colorado Rockies say tickets for the World Series will again be sold online starting Tuesday at noon after an attack brought down the Web site on Monday.

Rockies Spokesperson Jay Alves said on Monday night that ColoradoRockies.com was the victim of an "external malicious attack" that caused a system-wide outage with Paciolan.

Paciolan is Major League Baseball's ticket vendor. The outage impacted all of its North American customers.

The Rockies suspended the sale of tickets on Monday after noon because of the system outage.

"Thank you again for your patience tonight and for all our fans, again for their patience on what's been a difficult day for them and for us also," said Alves on Monday night. "Our Web site, I can tell you, and ultimately our fans and our organization, were the victim of an external malicious attack on our Web site that shut down the system that prevented our fans from being able to purchase their World Series tickets."

Problems With Buying World Series Tickets

Colorado Rockies fans are outraged by buying tickets online.  You can only buy World Series tickets online and not at the box office.  9News has reported the following about the tickets:

  • Only several hundred tickets were sold.
  • We expect to be online at some point
  • Colorado Rockies will announce new plans to sell the tickets at some point later Monday afternoon
  • Web site received 8.5 million hits in the first 90 minutes the system was up and running
  • Alves say they will not be selling the tickets at Coors Field. He says their goal is to get the computer system up and running again so that they can resume online sales.
  • Of the hundreds of e-mail messages to 9Wants to Know has received, only three people were able to get tickets.
  • 60,000 tickets are still for sale
  • No games are sold out
